Strassen is the first commune west of Luxembourg City along the route d’Arlon (N6), the main road into the capital. It had 10,637 residents in 2025 (STATEC), and 59.5% of them are foreign nationals.
It borders Luxembourg City to the east, Bertrange to the south, Mamer to the west, and Kopstal and Kehlen to the north. Bertrange-Strassen station, on train line 50, serves both Strassen and Bertrange.
Its position explains who buys here: people who work in the city and want a commune address right next to it, and international buyers who want to stay close to the capital.

Selling your property in Strassen
Buyers in Strassen compare closely with Bertrange and the western districts of the city, so the asking price has to be right for the specific property, not just for the commune.
- The right price from the start. The average was €9,983 per m² for existing apartments, but sales ranged from €6,780 to €13,215: condition, floor, outdoor space, parking and energy class make the difference. A price set too high at the start makes the sale longer.
- The market right now. Across the country, prices in the second quarter of 2026 were 2.2% below a year earlier but 1.1% up on the previous quarter (STATEC): buyers are back, but they compare.
- Documents to prepare. The energy performance certificate (required to sell), the floor plans and, for an apartment, the condominium accounts and minutes of the last general meetings.
